DEA States Over Half of Counterfeit Prescription Pills Contain a Lethal Dose of Fentanyl

Illegal fentanyl distribution continues to be a growing concern across the nation as imitation prescription pills become harder to distinguish from genuine pharmaceuticals. Especially apparent in San Diego County, border officials see mass quantities of counterfeit pills being trafficked by drug cartels. The Drug Enforcement Agency recently offered an alarming new statistic - six out of 10 fake prescription pills contained a potentially lethal dose of fentanyl, up from four out of 10 in 2021.
