Honoring Peace Officers Memorial Day: Remembering Deputy Tobin Bolter

Today, on May 15th, marks Peace Officers Memorial Day, a time to honor and remember the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. As we reflect on their service and dedication, we also want to spotlight the story of Deputy Tobin Bolter, a courageous officer who tragically lost his life while serving his community.

Deputy Tobin Bolter, just 27 years old, served with the Ada County Sheriff's Office in Idaho. However, his roots were deeply planted in the Bay Area, where he grew up and where his memory is cherished by many. A graduate of Berean Christian High School in Walnut Creek, Tobin was not only known for his athletic prowess but also for his unwavering dedication to serving others. His dream job, as noted in his high school yearbook, was to be a police officer—a dream he pursued with passion and commitment.

On April 28th, while conducting a routine traffic stop, Deputy Bolter was fatally shot by a driver. His tragic passing sent shockwaves through both his local community in Idaho and his hometown in California. But amidst the grief, stories emerged of Tobin's kindness, compassion, and dedication to his duty. Sheriff Matt Clifford of the Ada County Sheriff's Office recounted how Tobin had already made a significant impact on the community in his short time as a deputy.

As we reflect on Peace Officers Memorial Day, let us honor Deputy Tobin Bolter and the countless others who have given their lives to protect and serve. Let us honor their courage, their sacrifice, and their unwavering commitment to keeping our communities safe. And let us extend our deepest gratitude to their families, who carry on their legacies with strength and resilience.

To Tobin's family, friends, and colleagues, we offer our sincerest condolences. Though Tobin may no longer walk among us, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
